MOSCOW, 9 Nov — RIA Novosti. The vice-president of "Initiative of Reduction of Nuclear Threat" non-profit organization (NTI) Laura Holgate has said that if the tendency put by withdrawal of the USA from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty remains, then within five years the world will face crisis in area of arms control. "If the situation develops in this direction, I assume that we will face serious crisis in area of arms control and subsequently in the field of global safety within the next five years" — she has said during the lecture in MGIMO. According to her, this step of the USA in itself will cause "series of negative consequences for the USA, Russia, Europe and the world", in particular "destruction of the contract INF Treaty would result in risk of emergence of an expensive and dangerous race of arms, and as it can significantly increase risk of accident or a mistake in calculations, it can lead to nuclear escalation". The expert has also noted that withdrawal from the INF Treaty and possible subsequent steps of Washington can not only provoke reciprocal actions of Moscow, but also bring split in ranks of allies of the USA. "If the USA has suggested to place medium-range missiles in Europe, it would divide NATO and again would create an incentive for Russia to answer it with placement of own rockets" — Holgate has added. Earlier the U.S. President Donald Trump has reported that Washington will withdraw from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. According to him, America will increase nuclear potential until the others "do not recover", then Washington will be ready to stop this process and to start reduction arms ̆. He has explained that this message is addressed, first of all, to China and Russia. In recent years Moscow and Washington regularly accuse each other of breach of contract about the INF Treaty. Russia repeatedly stated that it strictly observes the obligations under the contract. The Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov noted that Moscow has very serious questions to the USA concerning implementation of the contract by Americans. In particular, in Moscow specify that the United States place on the land — on military base in Romania and also in Poland — the installations capable to launch shock cruise "Tomahawk" missiles that is forbidden by the contract. The Russian side also pays attention that the USA develops shock UAVs, finance researches on creation of a cruise missile of land basing. "Initiative of Reduction of Nuclear Threat" (NTI) — the non-profit organization created at the initiative of the American senator Sam Nunn and the founder of a television network of CNN Ted Ternayer.
