Biologists opened unusual communication between bees and solar eclipses - RIA Novosti, 10.10.2018

MOSCOW, 10 Oct – RIA Novosti. The last total solar eclipse helped biologists to confirm existence of extremely unusual phenomenon – bees and other insects sharply become silent and cease to move while there comes the complete darkness. Their conclusions were presented in the Annals of the Entomological Society of America.© REUTERS/Beawiharta magazine Scientists told when there is the last total solar eclipse "Mentions of this phenomenon in literature forced us to expect that the level of activity of bees will smoothly fall. But we did not expect at all to see that bees will normally fly before a total eclipse and will sharply stop moving to this moment. It looked as if someone suddenly turned off the light in the room, and all life in it calmed down" — said Candace Galen from the Missouri university (USA). The solar eclipse occurs when our natural satellite – the Moon – passes in the movement on a disk of the Sun. It always occurs at the time of a new moon. But not each new moon occurs a solar eclipse. Izza of an inclination of an orbit of the Moon to a terrestrial orbit of Long "misses" usually a little and passes above or the Sun are lower. However about 2-5 times a year a shadow of the Moon nevertheless fall to the Ground and there comes the local "end (solar) light". There are even less often so-called total solar eclipses when the disk of the Moon completely closes itself the Sun from Earth, temporarily returning night on its surface in the territory of a narrow strip of a surface of the planet on which there passes the shadow of the Moon. As a rule, such eclipses occur approximately time in 18 months, and each point on the Earth's surface becomes the witness of similar eclipses approximately time for a half of century. © Doctors told AP Photo/Luca Bruno about influence of a solar eclipse on организмВ the end of August of last year as Galen notes, in the territory of the USA there was the next total eclipse, and her many acquaintances and also journalists, constantly were interested in how dogs and other animals will behave during "unplanned" nightfall. Similar questions interested itself Galen, and it decided to make a similar experiment with participation of bees and other insects whose life she watches. For this purpose Galen and her adherents brought together group of four hundred volunteers who agreed to offer a show for the sake of science. During eclipse approach they watched not a disk of the Sun, and watched activity of bees and also wrote down the level of "natural noise" by means of special microphones, in parallel measuring air temperatures and surfaces of flowers. Scientists expected that bees, bumblebees and other insects will behave during an eclipse approximately the same as at nightfall, gradually reducing the level of activity and falling into anabiosis or hibernation. © RIA Novosti / Mikhail Fomichev to Pass into an image bank Ancient eclipses helped scientists to reveal a secret of lengthening of days on Zemlerealnost there was absolutely other.
