Astronomers have opened two new natural "satellites" of Earth - RIA Novosti, 10/26/2018


MOSCOW, 26 Oct — RIA Novosti. Scientists have confirmed existence of two huge clouds from dust turning around Earth at distance approximately in 400 thousand kilometers from her surface. Their conclusions have been presented in the MNRAS.© Fotolia/sdecoret magazine Scientists have found the new satellite of Earth – an asteroid 2016 HO3 "Kordylevsky's Clouds — two most imperceptible objects in the closest vicinities of Earth. They are approximately at the same distance from her, as well as Long because of what astronomers actually never notice them. Therefore we are very glad that we managed to confirm existence of these two pseudo-satellites of our planet" — Judit Sliz-Balogh from the Budapest university tells (Hungary). In the 18th century scientists have established that small celestial bodies can move on one orbit with the planet if they are near points ahead or behind her where gravitation of the Sun and the planet is counterbalanced. Thousands of such objects, or "Trojan asteroids", have been for a long time found in orbits of Jupiter, Mars and Neptune, however until recently scientific it wasn't possible to find any such asteroid at Earth. As researchers tell, it is very heavy to look for the "Trojan" satellites of Earth as are very close to the Sun if to look at them from the surface of our planet. Today only six quasisatellites of Earth — 2016 HO3, 2010 TK7, 2003 YN107, 2004 GU9, 2001 GO2 and 2002 AA29 are known. All of them, except 2016 HO3, rotate on very unstable trajectories, and part of them has already ceased to follow Earth and has left her orbit in several years or decades after their opening.
